Bethnal Green

The project retained and reimagined the existing building to create a low-energy, materially rich office space.
The original masonry-clad steel frame was preserved and extended with a lightweight three-story addition. The extensions are clad in hot dip galvanized steel, complementing the silver-grey masonry base and providing a cohesive design. This material has also been used for window frames, doors, and details to achieve a clean and crafted appearance.
The reuse of the existing structure helped reduce carbon emissions during construction, while passive heating and cooling systems have been incorporated to lower the building’s operational energy use. The result is an office building that combines efficient use of materials with a focus on sustainability.
